Cluster webinar “Interoperable Concept for Energy Communities: Different Perspectives from the InterSTORE, FLEXCHESS, and PARMENIDES Projects”

We are thrilled to have launched the first cluster webinar, and what an insightful session it was! A big thank you to all the presenters and participants for making this event truly engaging.

The PARMENIDES Project presentation set the tone by focusing on the role of renewable energy communities in managing energy consumption, particularly in buildings, which account for a significant portion of global energy use. Special thanks to Mark Stefan and Vieri Emiliani for delivering this impactful discussion.

We also heard about innovative approaches from the FlexCHESS project, where Habib Nasser introduced community-driven profitability via smart contracts—an idea that brings incentives directly to consumers. Meanwhile, Nikolaj Candellari shared how InterSTORE is bridging legacy energy equipment with modern management platforms using the IEEE2030.5 protocol, ensuring smooth communication between diverse energy assets.

The panel, led by Ludwig Karg from the int;net project, offered a thought-provoking discussion on interoperability. It reinforced the importance of different energy assets—whether thermal, electric, or storage—communicating seamlessly. It was reassuring to learn that consumers don’t need to deal with the technical complexities but will still benefit from enhanced energy management.

A special shout-out to Alexandre Lucas for moderating the session on Interoperable Concepts for Energy Communities!

We look forward to continued collaboration across these projects and are excited for our next webinar, “Implementation of Data Space and Interoperability for Flexibility Services Using DES” on November 6, 2024, from 10 to 11:50 AM CET!
